Who are we?

We’re the FinCap Co·Op, powered by the Maslow Holdings Pty Ltd. As such, this policy will refer to “us, we, our” in reference to Maslow Holdings Pty Ltd and is supported by the Maslow Holdings Privacy policy which can be found here.

If you are in Australia or are a resident of Australia when you give us your ‘personal information’, your ‘personal information’ is protected under the Australian Privacy Act (including the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs)) and any applicable APP Code.

If you are a resident of the European Economic Area (EEA) when you give us your ‘personal information’ we will protect it in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We will also comply with the GDPR if we process your ‘personal information’ in the EEA. For GDPR purposes, we are the ‘controller’ of your information

  • ask us to delete your data, though for legal reasons we might not always be able to do it;
  • say no to us using your data for direct marketing and in certain circumstances ‘legitimate interests’, research and statistical reasons;
  • withdraw any consent you’ve given us; and
  • ask a member of staff to review an automated decision.

Where we store or send your data :lock:

We may store the data we collect from you, or transfer it to other organisations. When we do this, we make sure that your data is protected and that:

  • the Information Commissioner (ICO) has deemed the country or organisation to provide an adequate level of protection for personal data; or
  • we’ve agreed specific contracts approved for use in the UK which give personal data the same protection it has in the UK.

How to make a complaint

If you have a complaint about how we use your personal information, please contact us through the app or send an email to fincapco@maslow.com.au and we’ll do our best to fix the problem.

If you do not find your complaint resolved through this management, you can refer it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.

We might update this Privacy Policy occasionally, but it’ll always be available on the Forum. If the changes are significant, we’ll let you know by email.

The information we hold about you, and how we use it :eyes:

When you sign up to the forum and give us details like your name, qualifications, publications and interest in media enquiries, we collect some additional information about your use of the forum such as your IP address.

We have access to any information that you choose to post publicly on the Forum and admins do have access to direct messages you may send to other users, but will rarely access these. An example of when they might need to is if someone reports that they’ve received messages that break our Code of Conduct.

We will create a database of content such as books and podcasts, as well as personal profiles for our media friends to peruse with the information shared. You will be asked whether you want to opt into these lists before they are published.

We intend to use some of this information to create public databases of content to reference as well as to;

  • help us manage your account;
  • track, analyse and improve the Forum; and
  • make sure everyone is following our FinCap Co·Op Code of Conduct

Our reasons for using your information :mag:

With your permission, we use this information to communicate with you about the forum by email. You can always unsubscribe from receiving these if you want to, by email or in your account settings.

Who we share your data with :handshake:

We share your data with our Forum provider, Discourse.

We’ll also share it to:

  • comply with the law;
  • enforce the Community Code of Conduct relating to the use of the Forum; or
  • protect the rights, property or safety of us, our customers or others.

Public posts on the Forum are public information, visible to visitors without a Forum account.

How long we keep your information :file_folder:

We will only keep ‘personal information’ that we hold about you while we need it or while we are required by law to keep it. Once we no longer need your ‘personal information’, we will take all reasonable steps to destroy it or to de-identify it. At any time we hold your ‘personal information’, we will only use and disclose as set out in this Policy.
